Spreading the Good News of International Education

Highlighting the Stories of International Education

Student Mobility is booming – Turkey focused on 200,000; China set to meet its 2020 mark of 500,000; The UK witnessing surges; Canada already past the 500,000 mark with surging economic impact; Australia discussing sustainability of its record growth – everywhere except the U.S., which, while still the number one study destination, is coming off its boom years.

Within these numbers, though, we often miss the nuggets of gold taking place around us. Just this week, West Chester University hosted a delegation of Chinese high school students on campus. The University of Delaware sent a delegation of administrators to China to aid incoming students with pre-departure and first-year success. Community Colleges’ value is being realized by international students. IIE continues to make Education Abroad accessible through its Gilman Scholarships. A Kansas State University Physics Professor is awarded for his collaboration with his international colleagues.

What are some your successes, those nuggets on and about your campus that await to shine and demonstrate the value of international education? Has your IEP developed unique partnerships? Have you opened up new student pipelines in emerging markets? Have you begun a Pathway? Have you collaborated with sister institutions for transnational education? What new research is taking place with international colleagues? What opportunities for Education Abroad are there? Has your internationalization reached your local community, not just your campus?

International Education is a value far beyond the metrics of student mobility, and the US has both much to contribute and much to learn – the essence of internationalization.

So search for those stories from your campus, your departments, your community, your people. Let’s get the good news out there! For more information, please contact us at info@globaledprofs.org. As well, please subscribe to the International Digest.
